Like you, in our house, my wife and I went from coordinating our schedules to worrying about piano lessons on one side of town, sports on another, and homework and project deadlines. And although it’s easy for us to let certain things fall by the wayside because we get caught in the trap of constantly rushing to the next thing, I’ve realized that when dealing with family, that’s no way to live.
Many entrepreneurs will tell you that when handling their businesses, it will only work if you set up a series of systems or plans. They make it a point to schedule the necessary things to keep that business going. And because they have employees, those systems are built to work so that it doesn’t negatively affect the livelihood of the people they work with.
I want you to know that to see your family’s success, treat it like a business. Set up systems and plans for worship and prayer, family dinners, and fun times. When you set aside time for the family, it will feel less like a rat race.
Proverbs 2:15 says, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.” Let’s be more purposeful in our planning and commit to the business of being a family.
